ABOUT DR. RM. KATHIRESAN
- RM.Kathiresan, Vice-Chancellor, Annamalai University is a prestigious alumnus of Annamalai University and a Post-Doctoral Commonwealth Fellow at the University of Bristol, U.K. He was awarded with D.Sc. (Doctor of Science) by Research in Agronomy for his “Contributions to Weed Management”. He is an international consultant for FAO, Rome and IRRI, Philippines and Expert committee member of National Biodiversity Authority. He has international collaborations for research and extension with NIAES of Japan, FAO of Rome, IRRI of Philippines and Cornell University of USA. He has received 20 International and National Awards including Bursary Award of British Crop Protection Council, AIASA Harit Puraskar Award -2018, Heroes of Indian Agriculture 2017 and Grand Challenges India Award by DBT, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID. He has completed 12 Research Projects worth Rs. 16 Crores.
- He is currently a Professor of Agronomy, Annamalai University. He has 35 years of academic and research experience received 19 International and National Awards and completed 12 International and National Projects with a total outlay of Rs. 14 Crores. He has travelled all around the world delivering Keynote Addresses, Invited Plenary Lectures, and Serving as Key Resource Person.
